How much does a paternity test cost in Singapore?
Short answer: USD 199 for a father and one child, ordered from Singapore through Geneasy. That is the all-in laboratory price — two buccal swab kits, tracked delivery of the kit to your Singapore address, analysis of 21 or more loci, and the PDF report. At today's rates that is roughly SGD 260–270. The report itself takes 3–5 business days from the moment your samples reach the laboratory in Zhuji, China.
Most Singapore clinics quote between SGD 400 and SGD 900 for a private paternity test, and a legal chain-of-custody test through a hospital can run past SGD 1,200. This page explains exactly what the USD 199 covers, where the extra costs hide, and — importantly — when a report issued outside Singapore is actually usable.
What the USD 199 includes

| Return of samples to the lab | Prepaid where permitted | Pre-addressed envelope inside the kit |
| Laboratory work | Yes | 21+ STR loci, two independent reads per sample |
| Report | Yes | PDF by email; printed copy on request |
| Extra participants | No | A third person is charged separately and shown at checkout |
What pushes the price up
More than two people
The 199 covers one alleged father and one child. Testing a second child, or adding the mother to strengthen a borderline result, adds a per-person fee that is calculated live on the order form before you submit anything.
Legal or immigration chain of custody
A personal test and a legal test are not the same product. If the report has to satisfy an authority, every step — identity check, sample collection witnessed by a neutral third party, sealed and signed chain-of-custody paperwork — has to be documented. Geneasy's immigration and legal package costs USD 329 because of that extra handling.
Prenatal testing
Non-invasive prenatal paternity testing (NIPP) from a maternal blood sample is USD 1,290. It is a different technology, not an upgraded paternity test, and it is only relevant from the seventh week of pregnancy onward.
Currency and payment fees
Prices are in US dollars and the invoice is issued in US dollars. Card, PayPal and bank transfer all work. Your bank's conversion spread and any card foreign-transaction fee are the only costs outside the invoice — typically 1–3%.
Door-to-door timeline from Singapore
| Stage | Time |
|---|---|
| Order placed, case manager assigned | Same business day |
| Kit dispatched from Zhuji | Within 1 business day |
| Kit arrives in Singapore | 3–7 working days |
| Swabs taken at home, mailed back | 1–5 days depending on courier chosen |
| Samples reach the laboratory | 3–6 working days from Singapore |
| Report issued | 3–5 business days after receipt |
Realistically, plan on two to three weeks from payment to PDF. If you are working to a deadline — an embassy appointment, a filing date — tell the case manager at the time of ordering and use express courier in both directions.
How the samples get back to China
Every kit contains a pre-addressed return envelope. Where Singapore postal regulations permit, return postage is already paid; where they do not, you drop the envelope at any SingPost counter or courier it at cost, typically SGD 8–20. Customs declarations on the outside read "medical sample collection kit" — no reference to testing, no reference to paternity, and the return address on the outside is neutral.
The part most guides skip: will the report be accepted?
Be clear about the purpose before you spend money.
- Personal knowledge — confirming paternity for your own peace of mind, without any authority involved. A Geneasy report is completely sufficient, and this is what most overseas clients order.
- Singapore legal, HDB or immigration matters — the authority handling your case decides what it will accept. In practice Singapore bodies generally expect a test performed by an accredited local laboratory, or a report with an unbroken chain of custody that can be attested to. A report issued in China may also need notarisation and legalisation before a Singapore authority will look at it.
- Use in China — for household registration, notarisation or litigation in mainland China, a personal (privacy) test is not accepted. Those purposes require a judicial appraisal opinion issued under Chinese judicial appraisal procedure, which is a separate service.
Ask the receiving authority one question before ordering: "Will you accept a paternity report issued by a licensed laboratory in China, and what authentication do you require?" One email saves a wasted test.

Frequently asked
Can the mother be tested too?
Yes. Adding the mother is useful when the child's profile shows a mutation at one locus, which happens in roughly 1 in 500 cases. The order form prices each additional person automatically.
What if the result is ambiguous?
If a locus is inconclusive the laboratory re-runs the sample before issuing anything. In the rare case where the DNA cannot resolve the question — for example the alleged father is a close relative of the biological father — the report says so plainly instead of forcing a conclusion, and further markers are tested at no extra analysis fee.
Is the kit discreet?
Plain outer packaging, neutral return address, generic customs description. Nothing on the outside identifies the sender, the contents or the purpose.
How do I pay?
Card, PayPal or bank transfer. You submit the order first, then the billing desk issues the invoice with the payment link; the kit is dispatched once payment clears.
